This
is where I'm supposed to put something profound about myself without
sounding completely pretentious or self-deprecating....
I
am many things....Wife. Mother. Nurse. That's only a few, but to tell
ya the truth, it serves no purpose to try to explain everything about
oneself when it comes to website-type stuff. I just want to paint a
little bit of a background "portrait". Without further ado, let me break
it down as interestingly as I can:
The Basics:
I
am 35. My daughter Colleen is 8 years old. My
husband Ed is a childhood friend of mine. I was married once before
(there's gonna be a blog about that). I've been a NICU nurse since 2001
& I work in a metro Detroit, Michigan hospital. I grew up in a small
town about 1 and 1/2 hours north of Detroit. I am agnostic.
The Random:
Some
things I like that may or may not be explained later in blogs: monster
trucks & leopard geckos (well, my banner says that), writing (I'll
look for any excuse to do it--like filling out credit card apps, even if
I never send them in), chocolate, babies (my favorite kind of people),
dragons, internet memes, archaeological stuff, cars, ear lobes, lamb's
ear plants, World of Warcraft, and changing central line dressings. Never mind....
And More Random, Because It's Just Fun To Say What Comes to Mind:
My parents
call me "Smangie" (hence the blog title). My maternal grandmother calls
me her "Golden Zebra" (I can make a noise just like a panicked zebra).
My hubby is 6 years younger than me (yup, I'm slightly cougar, rawwrr!). I am
actually quite shy. I have tattoos and a navel piercing (which I didn't
take out till it nearly popped out in my 8th month of pregnancy). I'm a
sucker for cheesy shows like "Dawson's Creek" for reasons I don't fully
understand, and my husband teases me about it (even though he'll sit
down and watch several episodes in a row with me on Netflix).
And
so now you know a small fraction of who I am. To learn a little more
about my blogging style, click on my post titled "What To
Expect From Me".
If you have any questions, just ask! I am pretty open. :-)
